Jiuzhaigou National Park

Locate in the Sichuan Province of China, the Jiuzhaigou National Park in China, serves both as a nature and wild life reserve. The name of the Jiuzhaigou National Park in China translates as the "Nine-Village valley" after the nine Tibetan villages that border it.

Jiuzhaigou National Park is one of the most beautiful National Parks in the world, and definitely the number one National Park in China. It combines blue lakes, waterfalls, verdant forests, snow-covered mountains, and the folk customs of the Tibetan and Qiang peoples.

The Jiuzhaigou National Park in China was recognized by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in the year 1992. Occupying a significant portion of the Minshan Mountain, the region was severely afflicted by illegal logging until 1979. So, finally to preserve the remaining area and also ensure that it thrives in future the Jiuzhaigou National Park in China was established by the government in 1982. Though few of the villages bordering the Jiuzhaigou National Park in China remain, the inhabitants of the area are still mostly Tibetans and Qiang Chinese people. The flora in the Jiuzhaigou National Park in China has a wide range and comprise of such species as bamboo and rhododendrons; while the rare species of animals include the Giant Pandas, Sichuan Takins and snub-nosed monkeys. The topography being mostly made up of calcium carbonate, formed out of tectonic and glacial activities, the place provides an ideal habitat for the flowers and other plants that grow there.

The wildlife here is shy, but the range is equally impressive, including 27 protected rare and endangered species like the giant panda, golden monkey, gnu, white-lip deer, black-neck crane, swan, lovebirds, red-belly golden pheasant, snow leopard, forest musk deer, and otters. However, visitors are more likely to spot some of the 141 bird species than one of the very few pandas remaining in the park. The Park authorities say that the flowering of the bamboo a couple of decades ago led to a big reduction in this staple panda food, hence the need for them to move elsewhere.

Currently this is one of China's top tourist destinations among Chinese visitors, but it is still not very well-known among foreigners. If you have already visited China's main tourist cities, and want to see an amazing natural environment, you should add Jiuzhaigou Valley to your destinations list.
